The planning for building a European Disneyland started in 1975. When a location decision was being made it was kept in mind that the largest possible market should be targeted. Many countries were considered as possible locations such as France, Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain and after much consideration, there was debate between whether to choose Spain, which had climatic conditions similar to Florida or Paris, one of the most visited cities in the world. After much thought, the Marne-La-Valle area, just outside of Paris was chosen as the finalized location for building the Euro Disneyland. The selection of this location was done due to many reasons which include the large flat landscape and the fact that Paris is a famous international tourist destination that hosts 50 million tourists every year.
